Legends about people cooking for the first time are also a favorite source of student humor. Burnt spaghetti, scorched tea, or the painful realization that plastic cutting boards can\u2019t be used as baking sheets in the oven have marked the beginning of more than one culinary journey.We can\u2019t overlook stories about love, sex, and intimacy. All of this is undoubtedly part of college life, but many people have a very high opinion of how quiet they can be\u2014and just how soundly the person in the bed across the hall sleeps. So stories of nighttime exploits, followed by a day of very nervous silence, are still vivid in the memories of many students. And who doesn\u2019t have at least one memory of the person who was supposed to be spending the weekend with their parents showing up at the door just as you were getting into the thick of things?Very popular among young people, and usually extremely unpopular among those directly involved, are incidents involving more than a little alcohol. Drunken homecomings, during which we confessed undying love to a very grumpy friend at three in the morning after dragging him from his bed to the door, are just the tip of the iceberg. Many students have experienced what it\u2019s like to stay up all night watching over a sweetly dreaming drunk, fearing they might not wake up. Our satisfaction usually comes the next morning, when the culprit stumbles around the apartment, moaning and groaning.
